Qualifications of the Chief Instructor

Mr. Nick Malefyt has been studying Taekwon-Do for over 25 years. He is a 5^th degree black belt certified by the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF). Mr. Malefyt is best known for teaching practical self-defense skills but is also an accomplished tournament competitor. He has been teaching since earning his black belt in 1987. Mr. Malefyt is a graduate of Seton Hall University and is the General Manager of Career Center Inc., a multi-office staffing and recruiting firm. Click here for a full biography.

Regarding Our Program

The core martial art taught at the school is Taekwon-Do. All-Star Taekwon-Do is one of a handful of schools in New Jersey licensed to teach Under Grandmaster Choi, Jung Hwa, son of the Founder of Taekwon-Do, and Master Robert N. Wheatley, president of the United States International Taekwon-Do Federation. Some of the self-defense and weaponry taught at the school are from other martial art systems including Arnis, Hapkido, and Tang-Soo Do.

Our school is affiliated internationally with the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) and nationally with the United States International Taekwon-Do Federation (USITF).

Classes are offered Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. We offer separate classes for children and adults. In a typical class the student to instructor ratio is usually 1 black belt instructor for every 10 students. Mr. Malefyt personally teaches almost every class.

All classes are taught using positive motivation to help every student reach their maximum potential. Safety is a key concern at the school. All students are taught proper Taekwon-Do etiquette in terms of safety and approved sparring gear must be worn during sparring sessions. Our classes are offered exclusively at Sports University, a state of the art athletic training facility. SU offers a wide range of sports specific instruction by top athletes, a spacious locker room (complete with showers), and plenty of parking.

Financial Investments

All-Star Taekwon-Do offers yearly, quarterly, and monthly enrollment plans. Monthly enrollment costs decrease based on increased “sign-up” times. This is our way of rewarding you for your commitment to our program. All additional costs are clearly posted on our bulletin board located right outside the dojang (training floor).
