What Taekwon-Do Will Do For Kids
At All-Star Taekwon-Do, our children’s program focuses on offering the perfect balance of building self-confidence, improving physical fitness, and increasing self-awareness.
Building Self-Confidence:
Through our program
children build self- confidence by setting and achieving both short-term and
long-term goals. Setting, striving for, and reaching, these goals are positively
rewarded both physically (in the forms of belts and achievement awards) and
verbally. You will see your child’s confidence grow with each “small victory”.
Often this increased confidence carries over to other areas of life including
academics, athletics, and the development of positive personal relationships.
Improving
Physical Fitness:
All-Star Taekwon-Do provides children with a fun yet challenging way to get in
shape and stay in shape. Our program improves muscle tone (through age
appropriate strengthening exercises), builds stamina (through cardio
conditioning), and increases flexibility (through stretching). Along with this
come the side benefits of improved hand-eye coordination and the development of
fine motor skills.
Increased
Self-Awareness:
Through our program children learn to stay “tuned in” to their environment. As
parents it is our responsibility to make sure that our children recognize the
challenges that life can present. While our self-defense program may teach
children the physical techniques needed to “escape” a dangerous situation, we
also spend time reinforcing the importance of “what to say and do” to “avoid”
being placed in an uncomfortable situation.
Improved
Discipline:
For children, one of the best benefits
Taekwon-Do offers is improved self-discipline. Our program is designed to help
children learn the value of setting and attaining goals by overcoming obstacles.
By instilling a strong sense of perseverance and pride in our students they are
offered a unique way to improve listening skills, increase concentration,
improve interpersonal relationships, and can give children the confidence needed
to say no to peer pressure.
